Looking for something fun for you, your friends or family to do together but just don't want to spend a lot of money? Well, you're in luck. Clayton County has places and activities that will keep you entertained - outdoors, treasure hunting and the arts are waiting.

1.  Arts Clayton Gallery, in Jonesboro, showcases Southeastern artists along with bringing in national traveling exhibits. Stop by regularly because each month brings a new theme and new artists.

2.  Geocaching is a fun and updated version of treasure hunting. Pull out your smart phone or gps device and in conjunction with geocaching.com, find a geocache and start the hunt. The Clayton County Convention & Visitors Bureau has seven hidden throughout the county. Each one has a trading card inside so collect them all and bring them to our welcome center to earn a prize. There are hundreds of geocaches hidden throughout the area so it's great fun to get some people together and see what you find.

3.  Catch sight of more than 130 bird species and explore the tree-lined paths at Newman Wetlands Center. The 32-acre wildlife habitat and wetlands trail is a great place to see wildlife, learn about wetlands ecology and just get outside and enjoy the day. Birds, turtles, deer and turkey call this area home so who knows what you'll see.

4.  Close to the airport, but feel a world away. Stretch your legs under the towering pines at Reynolds Nature Preserve in Morrow. The three miles of trails are in multiple loops that make it a great option if you don't have a long time or you have kids who aren't up to walking the full three miles. This area used to be farmland so be on the lookout for the 1867 barn and old farming equipment.

5.  What better way to get out of the house than to go to a park? Bring a picnic and let the kids use their infinite energy to climb all over the playground or find a peaceful spot to read your favorite book. There's lots of parks in Clayton County, so find the one that works best for your locale and the activities you're looking for. Check the schedule for upcoming events like movies in the park that happen throughout the summer and fall - check the schedule to see where the next one is. Lee Street Park in Jonesboro is also a great to spend the afternoon or catch one of their events or concerts going on at the amphitheater. Watch their calendar for the next upcoming event.
